Make it happen…

Finished last cutscene!

Today I achieved what I feel is a milestone: finished the last cutscene of the game!

There’s still a long way to go before the game is ready, but it really feels like the beginning of the end!

Took me a bit longer than expected because I also added the end credits, and since some of the names in portuguese have accents (like ‘á’) I had to make the font renderer work with these characters… and since I don’t do anything the easy way, I added a full codepage system, so the game can work in any language!

A lot of work, but if I can find somebody to translate the game into a couple of languages it will look more professional (and we might reach that audience that prefers to read text in their original languages).

“Código” is “Code” in portuguese… All text in the game is stored in files, so I can just translate some XML files and I have a new language in place!

ALso ran into the problem that I have too many hats… In 9 “topics” of credits, my name appears in 4 of them… I could just put my name once with all the stuff I did, or ignore the stuff I did (just call it a “Diogo de Andrade game”), but I like “explicit” credits… But I feel this way I look like an attention-grabbing maniac…

Still need to consider that…

Now listening to “The Single 86-98” by “Depeche Mode”

Link of the Day: A good friend of mine is almost releasing his new album, a collaboration between himself (Luis Fazendeiro, of metal band Painted Black) and Mick Moss (of rock band Antimatter). Luis was also responsible for the music currently in game (and all of it, if I can convince him!). Their album sounds really good, very emotional music, mostly in the rock/ambient genre, so be sure to check it out when it’s released (next month, I believe):
